Locals claim that after the elephant broke into Mr. Kalamu’s farm, it brutally assaulted him, killing him.
The animal has been a persistent threat to the town for at than four years, according to local residents. A worried local stated, “This elephant keeps coming into our community to destroy our crops, damage our fishing nets, and now it has taken a life.”
Before the situation worsens, the residents of Itasin-Imobi are urging the state government and relevant authorities to act immediately. The terrible occurrence was confirmed by Taiwo Oludotun, the State Commissioner for Forestry.
“Yes, we are aware, and we are already en route to the community,” Oludotun stated.
Lanre Ogunlowo, the Commissioner of Police, also attested to the elephant’s fatal assault.
According to Ogunlowo, “On July 28, 2025, at approximately 1620 hours, the Itasin community informed the DPO Ogbere that elephants had escaped from the government reserve and attacked one Musa Kalamu, who passed away en route to the hospital.”
To prevent more harm to the animals, Ogun State Forestry officers were called. Peace has returned to the neighborhood. An unsettling video went viral that showed the dead body of Kala, a middle-aged man who was allegedly mauled by the roving elephants.
“This is Kala; he was attacked by the elephants at Onitasin,” the residents could be heard yelling in the footage. His entire body has the scars of the attack, with a portion of his gut visible outside. The issue with these elephants is too severe in our community; the authorities ought to help us.
