Qatari negotiators have been bouncing back and forth between Israeli and Hamas representatives in Doha for more than two weeks in an effort to broker a truce and free Israeli hostages in Gaza.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, said Israel is still open to a deal even after returning its delegation from the capital of Qatar. But with the words, “Now we’re down to the final hostages, and they know what happens after you get the final hostages,” Trump firmly blamed Hamas.

Trump also expressed his opinions on how the world is responding to the Gaza conflict, specifically denouncing French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent decision to recognize a Palestinian state.

Trump dismissed the diplomatic significance of Macron’s decision, saying, “He’s a very good guy; I like him, but that statement doesn’t carry weight.”

Since the October 2023 Hamas-led onslaught that killed over 1,200 Israelis and resulted in hundreds being taken hostage, the war between Israel and Hamas has continued for almost two years.
