The United States and Israel have sharply criticized France’s reported plans to officially recognize a Palestinian state, calling the move premature and potentially harmful to peace efforts in the region.

Israeli officials condemned the proposal as a reward for what they described as terrorism, warning it could undermine Israel’s security and diplomatic leverage. The Israeli government insists that recognition should only come as part of a negotiated settlement.
