In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi revealed this and emphasized the Command’s continued dedication to protecting people and property in the state.
He claims that a three-month-old infant was saved on September 15, 2025, after her mother, Fatima Abdullahi, 20, of Damaturu, Yobe State, reportedly sent her away with the help of an Adama Ibrahim. After being given the child, Fatima Haruna of Liji Quarters, Gombe, ran away with the infant.

Abdullahi asked locals to report any unusual activity in their neighborhoods and to exercise caution.
Another development was the recovery of a newborn child who had been left in a carton by the Command. According to DSP Abdullahi, on September 9, 2025, Kwadon resident Auwal Abdullahi, who rides a tricycle, brought the infant to the Gona Police Division.
He described how an unknown woman got on his tricycle and rode from Madaki Quarters to the BCGA Quarters in Gombe. She got off at YD Filling Station Junction while posing as someone taking money out of a point-of-sale system. The rider investigated the carton she left behind after she didn’t come back, and found a newborn baby inside,” the Police PRO said.
While investigations are ongoing, Abdullahi stated that the baby was placed in secure custody and then turned over to the Gombe State Social Welfare Department.
Additionally, the Command verified that two 14-year-old herders, Samaila Sulaiman and Danladi Babangida, had been arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Pindiga, Akko LGA, while she was gathering firewood.
The suspects were taken into custody and admitted to the crime after a complaint was filed on September 12. For a medical evaluation, the victim and suspects were brought to General Hospital in Kashere. The State CID’s Gender Unit is handling the issue for a confidential inquiry, Abdullahi stated.
He denounced all types of sexual violence and urged locals to report such incidents as soon as possible so that authorities can act quickly.
He promised that the Command will keep up its increased efforts to safeguard the weak and make sure those who commit horrible acts suffer the full force of the law.
Sexual abuse and child abandonment cases continue to be major issues in Gombe and other parts of the Northeast.
