The body of the girl was discovered on Saturday morning, August 17, 2024, in the drain.

Superintendent of Police Ayush Vikram Singh stated on Saturday that the incident occurred late on Friday, when the suspect, named as Moish (20), abducted the minor who was sleeping with her family outside her home in the Sadar region of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

The family members pursued the accused after realizing that the girl was in danger, but Moish allegedly put the girl down the sewer before running away.

Singh stated that the girl’s body has been sent for a post-mortem and that the accused has been taken into custody while an inquiry is carried out.

Information surfaced that during the police pursuit, the suspect was shot in both knees.
