On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the suspects—two natives of Cameroon and one from Nigeria—were caught trying to obtain the document fraudulently at the Kampala Central Office.

Despite possessing a valid Nigerian passport, the suspect from Nigeria, named Rahman Adam Bolakale, is suspected of using a national ID under the name Makenke Rahman Adam. According to reports, he claimed to be of Ugandan heritage, saying that his mother was a Muganda and his father belonged to the Mufumbira clan.

The two nationals of Cameroon, Sah Cruz Nyimaneke, also known as Kato Cruz, and Sah Yuri Kor-Nyui, also known as Wasswa Alex, were also apprehended trying to get Ugandan passports by deception.

The pair, who claimed to be the Baganda twins, applied using national identification documents that they had obtained unlawfully. It is verified that both men’s Cameroonian passports are up to date.

Immigration Spokesperson Simon Peter Mundeyi stated, “Our legal team is thoroughly investigating the trio in collaboration with other agencies to ensure their prosecution.”

“We want to reassure the public that such fraudsters are consistently identified and apprehended by us, and that our passport system is strong.”

He also warned Ugandans against helping foreigners obtain official documents unlawfully, citing serious legal repercussions for anyone who do so.
