Iheancho became free agent on June 30th after his contract with Leicester City, an English Premier League team, expired. The Nigerian forward is available, but it has taken him some time to sign with new team despite strong interest from teams in the Saudi Pro League, Turkish Super League, and English Premier League. There were reports of interest from Turkish clubs Besiktas and Trabzonspor as well as Premier League teams Ipswich Town, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest.

Numerous European teams eager to add players to their rosters have expressed interest in signing the former Manchester City forward. Iheanacho and Sevilla have reached an agreement on two-year contract, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano. The international player from Nigeria will sign with the La Liga powerhouse on Wednesday after leaving for Spain on Tuesday night for his medical examination.

After the medical and contract signing, an official statement from the club is anticipated. With the purchase of Iheanacho, Sevilla will further enhance its ties to Nigerian football, which began with the signing of Chidera Ejuke. In addition, the club and the Nigeria Premier Football League inked second contract for the coaching and youth player development of Nigerians
