In a confession video recorded at the police station that PUNCH Metro was able to obtain from an anonymous source on Wednesday, Akande said that he took part in the murder of the commercial sex worker after someone going by the name Ifa offered him a N100,000 reward.

He claimed that after their arrangement with Ifa, he went and hired the victim, offering to pay her N3,000 in exchange for her spending the night at his house, which she dutifully did.

In his now-translated Yoruba narrative, Akande told how, after she had accompanied him to his house, he hired a buddy named Ijebu to execute the murder.

He continued, saying, “She fell to the ground after Ijebu struck her in the head with a piece of wood.” I dragged her inside after she fell. Before Ifa killed her, I was the one holding her legs and Ijebu was holding her wrists.

“He collected her blood with a calabash after Ifa had killed her. I consented to take part in the procedure as Ifa assured me that I would receive N100,000.

“The woman is a commercial sex worker that I have always used in the past; she is not my girlfriend. I agreed to give her N3,000 when I went to pick her up, even though I had only previously given her N1,000.

Omolola Odutola, the public relations officer for Ogun State Police, was not available at the time this report was filed, thus attempts to gain a response from her were unsuccessful.

In the meantime, our correspondent was informed by phone on Wednesday that the arrest had been confirmed by a senior police officer who was aware of the incident but was not authorized to communicate with the media.

The State Criminal Investigation Department had received the suspect, the senior officer revealed as well.

The policeman stated, “He was arrested in Ifo and has been transferred to the state CID for further action.”

According to a PUNCH Metro story from Tuesday, Lekan Akinyemi, a man, was taken into custody by Ogun State Police Command agents for reportedly beheading and excavating a body in the Itoko region of the state for ceremonial purposes.

In a phone call with our correspondent, the state’s PPRO, Odutola, revealed that the suspect was taken into custody on Monday following a resident’s report to the police of questionable activity near his father’s burial.
