Akpabio highlighted the challenging economic circumstances that the administration inherited, noting that upon Tinubu’s ascension to the presidency in 2023, 27 states were struggling to meet their obligations for workers’ salaries and pensions.

During a recent meeting with members of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, TETFund, and NELFund, led by Chairman Senator Dandutse Mohammed, Akpabio outlined the government’s positive economic transformations since Tinubu’s election. According to Akpabio’s Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, he stated, “The current President has done a lot for Nigerians,” emphasizing the turnaround in critical sectors like the economy, agriculture, education, and fiscal policy. He expressed optimism that by 2027, Nigerians would recognize the government’s achievements and re-elect Tinubu for a second term.

Akpabio defended the efficacy of the 10th National Assembly, asserting that it has enacted important legislation aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. He praised the Senate’s collaborative efforts with the Executive branch, detailing its ongoing work, even during the legislature’s annual vacation.

Moreover, Akpabio urged lawmakers who do not plan to return for the 11th Senate to remain loyal to the APC and the administration, promising that their dedication would be acknowledged. Senator Mohammed emphasized the significance of their visit as part of the committee’s constitutional duties and commended the legislative framework established under Akpabio’s leadership, which has had a beneficial impact on Nigerian constituents.

He highlighted the satisfaction of Nigerian parents due to the efforts of TETFund and NELFund and affirmed that education remains a cornerstone for national development. The visit aimed to provide oversight on the educational infrastructure projects facilitated by TETFund in Akwa Ibom State, reinforcing the critical role of education in Nigeria’s success narrative.
