Actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi paid tribute to Ogogo during an interview before the burial, praying for him to attain Al-Jannah Firdaus. Jide Kosoko, who shared the news of the actor’s passing on Instagram, confirmed that Ogogo’s remains had been taken to his hometown, Ilaro, where a lying-in-state ceremony was planned for the following day. Kosoko expressed profound sadness over Ogogo’s passing at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, and detailed the arrangements for the funeral, specifying that the lying-in-state ceremony would occur at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The Ilaro Muslim Community also announced the burial prayer for Ogogo, which was to take place at 10 a.m. at the same pavilion. The announcement, made by Seun Oloketuyi, the founder of Best of Nollywood, conveyed condolences while reminding attendees of their faith.

Sadly, Ogogo’s death followed a public appeal from his daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, who had sought medical assistance for their father as he battled stage-four cancer. They shared that doctors had informed the family they could no longer provide chemotherapy due to his declining condition. Throughout his more than four-decade career, Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry and became a well-recognized name in Yoruba-language cinema, featured in hundreds of films. His contributions to arts and entertainment will be remembered, and condolences poured in from fans and colleagues alike.
