TRUMP: Any agreement we reach with Iran will be appropriate and good.

As both nations apparently get closer to an accord meant to cease hostilities, US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday, May 24, that if his administration strikes a deal with Iran, it will be a "good and proper one."

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “If I make a deal with Iran, it will be a good and proper one, not like the one made by Obama, which gave Iran massive amounts of CASH, and a clear and open path to a Nuclear Weapon.” The Obama administration, Iran, and several international powers reached a nuclear agreement in 2015 that limited Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

“Our deal is the exact opposite, but nobody has seen it, or knows what it is. It isn’t even fully negotiated yet,” Trump added. “So don’t listen to the losers, who are critical about something they know nothing about. Unlike those before me who should have solved this problem many years ago, I don’t make bad deals!”

After reaching a ceasefire in early April, Washington and Tehran are reportedly close to a peace deal, according to a number of media sites.

According to Jennifer Jacobs, a CBS News correspondent, the suggested deal may involve Iran getting rid of its highly enriched uranium stockpiles and the United States removing its naval blockade of Iranian ports. The United States wants Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and cease charging fees to ships traveling through the vital waterway, according to a senior administration official.

Following strikes by the United States and Israel on the last day of February, Iranian military limitations on shipping across the strait were implemented. According to AAA, the disruption has had a major effect on the world energy market, with gas prices in the US rising from less than $3 per gallon prior to the conflict to more over $4.50 per gallon as of Sunday.

According to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, 1,701 civilians in Iran died over the first 39 days of the battle prior to the truce, including at least 254 children.

The arrangement would permit Iran to continue controlling the Strait of Hormuz, according to a Sunday report from Iran’s Fars news agency, which is closely associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Senator Thom Tillis blasted the deal’s purported provisions.

Many things need to be clarified. Additionally, Tillis stated, “I believe that any agreement with Iran that isn’t subject to ratification by Congress is going to be doomed to fail.”

Sen. Rand Paul, however, praised Trump’s strategy and urged detractors to give the president “the space to find an America First solution” to the dispute.

Paul said on social media that “negotiations virtually always end with war.”
