According to reports on Friday, Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold could also be left out of the squad, while Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney is surprisingly set to earn a call-up.

Foden and Palmer were key members of the England team that reached the final of Euro 2024, playing major roles throughout the tournament.

However, reports from British media outlets claim both players may now be paying the price for underwhelming performances at club level this season.

Manchester City star Foden and Chelsea midfielder Palmer are reportedly among the notable omissions being considered by Tuchel ahead of the World Cup.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin are also expected to miss out despite enjoying impressive goal-scoring campaigns in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, experienced Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson is reportedly set to make the squad ahead of Crystal Palace youngster Adam Wharton.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire also expressed disappointment after reportedly learning he would not be included in the squad.

The 33-year-old reacted on social media, admitting he was shocked by the decision.

“I believed I could have played an important role for my country this summer based on the season I’ve had,” Maguire wrote.

“I’m shocked and deeply disappointed by the decision.”

An official squad announcement is expected in the coming days.
