Yesufu disclosed this in a statement shared on her X account on Wednesday, explaining that her decision was influenced by what she described as a clearer understanding of the nation’s future, as well as her continued alignment with the political direction of former presidential candidate Peter Obi.

She stated that the coming days would play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country. According to her, this realization informed her decision to leave the ADC and join the NDC, as she aligns with Obi’s leadership, which she believes represents the hopes and aspirations of a functional Nigeria.

Yesufu noted that her earlier support for Obi was the reason she initially joined the ADC, adding that her move to the NDC reflects her commitment to maintaining that support.

She emphasized that she remains consistent in her decisions, explaining that her promise to support Obi guided her political journey from the ADC and now to the NDC.

In addition, she confirmed that her involvement in the NDC would go beyond membership, as she plans to contest for the FCT senatorial seat under the party.

She further revealed that she had completed her responsibilities within the ADC, ensuring what she described as a smooth transition, while expressing gratitude to members of the party.

Yesufu acknowledged the opportunity to work with dedicated individuals committed to national progress, noting that she served in various capacities including sub committee chair, deputy committee chair, and secretary at different levels.

Her defection comes amid ongoing political realignments within the opposition, following the recent move by Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to the NDC, a development that has triggered a wave of defections from the ADC.
