The Nigerian striker has been out of action since March 18 after suffering an arm injury during a UEFA Champions League play-off clash against Liverpool, just before the international break. With the title race heating up, Galatasaray are accelerating his recovery process in a bid to strengthen their squad for the final stretch of the season.
Although the 27-year-old is targeting peak fitness ahead of the crucial derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, he could still make a return to the matchday squad for this weekend’s away trip to Alanya.
Reports from Turkey indicate that head coach Okan Buruk has already held discussions with Osimhen, stressing the importance of gradually reintegrating him into the squad while managing his recovery carefully.
Last weekend, Osimhen participated in the initial phase of team training before continuing with a personalised fitness programme under the guidance of the club’s medical team, both on the pitch and in the gym.
Since his absence, Galatasaray have struggled to maintain consistency, missing out on five points in three league matches. They have managed just one win in that period, collecting four points from a possible nine.
Despite this dip in form, Galatasaray remain top of the table with 68 points, narrowly ahead of Fenerbahçe on 66, while Trabzonspor sit third with 64 points, keeping the title race wide open.
Overall, Osimhen has missed 11 matches across all competitions this season due to injuries. In those games, the team recorded five wins, two draws, and four defeats, dropping a total of 16 points—highlighting his importance to the squad.
His recent spell on the sidelines has sparked concerns among supporters, with increasing calls for his swift return as the club pushes for the league title.
Since completing his €75 million move last summer, Osimhen has delivered impressive performances, scoring 12 league goals and providing four assists in 19 appearances. He has also netted seven times in the Champions League.
Currently, he sits just behind Mauro Icardi, who leads the club’s scoring chart with 13 goals in 27 matches.
If he makes his comeback this weekend, Osimhen will rejoin Galatasaray’s title charge with only five matches remaining in the season.
