The command stated that the actions were in accordance with the Inspector-General of Police’s instruction and policing vision, which aims to promote public safety and increase residents’ confidence, in a statement released on Friday by DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer.

The statement stated that CP Abimbola Olugbenga, the Commissioner of Police, “extends warm congratulations to the Christian faithful on the occasion of Easter” and encouraged people to reflect on the lessons of Lent and offer prayers for harmony, peace, and advancement while absorbing “the teachings of Jesus Christ by embracing love, sacrifice, humility, and peaceful coexistence.”

Residents were reassured by the commissioner of the command’s “unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebration,” with security agencies collaborating to guarantee coverage of “worship centers, recreational facilities, major highways, and other public spaces.”

The commissioner emphasized the public’s responsibility and urged cooperation, saying that “accurate and timely information remains the fuel upon which effective policing thrives” and that operations would be severely hampered without it. Locals were advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activity via emergency channels or the closest police station.

According to the statement, the commissioner expressed gratitude to Inspector-General of Police Olutunji Rilwan Disu for his “visionary leadership and continued support,” which have improved the command’s operational efficacy.

Additionally, the command encouraged people to utilize the Oyo State Call Response Center toll-free line 615 or the control room numbers 08081768614 and 07055495413 in the event of an emergency and wished Christian faithful a calm and pleasant Easter celebration.
