According to Akinwande, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria’s Saki Branch Chairman, Alhaji Mufutau Badmus, called the agency to report the fire.

He said that firefighters under the command of Mr. Kolade Taiwo mobilized to the scene of the event as soon as they received the distress call.

“The filling station, a DAF tanker truck carrying 50,000 liters of gasoline, one Bajaj motorcycle, and three fuel dispensing pumps were all already consumed by the fire when we arrived at the scene,” he stated.

According to Akinwade, the agency’s staff successfully put out the fire and stopped it from spreading to nearby properties.
He praised the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Ofiki Division members for their presence and for keeping the region safe during the drill.
He asked the state’s gas station owners to give fire safety regulations first priority.

On January 9, a similar occurrence happened at a filling station in the Kara area of Kishi, Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State, where three cars and a community power house caught fire, destroying property valued at millions of naira.

Our correspondent was informed by an eyewitness that the event occurred at approximately 5 p.m. as a result of an explosion at the power house that ignited surrounding flammable materials and spread to adjacent property.
