For the second term, the Edo State Government has put off the reopening of all public and private schools in the Edo Central Senatorial District indefinitely.

According to TVC, the decision was made in response to the violent demonstration that took place in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, last week, which was prompted by an increase in kidnapping instances in the area.

A number of individuals were hurt during the disturbance, which also resulted in the traditional ruler’s palace being vandalized and some businesses being plundered.
Dr. Paddy Iyamu, the Edo State Commissioner for Education, said in a statement that the delay will last “until further notice.”

He stated that the postponement is meant to give officials time to deal with pressing problems that are meant to enhance student welfare.

“The new date of resumption will be duly communicated to the public in due course. Parents, guardians, and all education stakeholders within Edo Central Senatorial District are kindly requested to take note of this development and comply accordingly.” he said
