Nigeria, Gabon, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are vying for a spot in the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico after emerging as the top second-place teams from the qualifying campaign.
The Eagles’ match against the Panthers on Thursday will be their first obstacle in the lengthier road, while the other matchup will pit DR Congo against Cameroon. The victors will compete in a final on Sunday, and the victor will go to the intercontinental playoffs, which will take place in Mexico in March 2026.
Aubameyang, a 36-year-old who scored seven goals in five qualifying games, is without a doubt the Panthers’ leader going into the match.
The 36-year-old, who has played for English Premiership team Arsenal and German Bundesliga top team Borussia Dortmund, and is currently with former European champions Olympique Marseille in France, is the key to Gabon’s hopes of an upset.
