The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that PASAN in the state had issued a seven-day ultimatum, which elapsed on Monday, over the implementation of the remuneration scale for its members.
Speaking to reporters in Akure on Monday, the association’s state chairperson, Mrs. Hellen Olorunfemi, praised the governor for granting members’ request to apply the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS).

According to Olorunfemi, the development will provide relief to the state’s parliamentary personnel.  “We tabled our demands before the governor, and to the glory of God, he gave instant approval.

“He gave the Head of Service and all relevant officers instructions to prepare the implementation table right away so that the process can start right away,” she said.

She pointed out that the planned strike occurred prior to the governor’s intervention because Ondo was the only state in the South-West to be left behind in the implementation of CONLESS.

This arrangement has been in place for a long time in Lagos and other states. That Ondo State is now joining makes us pleased,” she continued.  Olorunfemi also thanked Chief Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, for his steadfast assistance throughout the conflict.

She praised the legislative and executive branches of government for working together to find a peaceful solution.  “PASAN has formally suspended its planned strike action, as the office of the Accountant General is already implementing the governor’s directive,” she said.
