Has excluded Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in favor of Austin Okocha, Victor Osimhen, and Brazil’s Ronaldinho.
The “African Giant” made the unexpected choice while participating in Complex’s YouTube series GOAT Talk, in which celebrities discuss the greatest and worst of a variety of subjects.
Burna Boy named current Super Eagles player Osimhen, former Nigerian captain Okocha, and Ronaldinho as his three favorite football players of all time.
Given that Messi and Ronaldo have shared 13 Ballon d’Or awards between them and have dominated world football for almost 20 years, the decision has drawn criticism.

He was on the show with tennis great Roger Federer, and when Federer inquired about the name of Nigeria’s national team, the discussion became lighthearted.

Burna Boy said, “The Super Eagles,” to which Federer responded playfully, “Can they fly?”

Burna Boy laughed and said, “They can win some games, but they can lose some too. They can’t fly.”
Federer revealed his personal list of the greatest of all time, which included Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zinedine Zidane.

Although Burna Boy’s choice of Okocha seems to have been motivated by pride in his country, the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder was considered by many to be among Africa’s most talented players in his playing days.

Even in retirement, Ronaldinho, who is renowned for his inventiveness, skills, and upbeat attitude toward the game, is still a favorite across the world. During their tenure at PSG, the Brazilian and Okocha played together.

After winning the African Player of the Year title and being nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or, 26-year-old Victor Osimhen has emerged as Nigeria’s football poster child in Europe. Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the World Cup still depend heavily on the Galatasaray striker, who is currently on loan from Napoli.
