Michelle said that she had previously questioned her husband’s aspirations to become president, which he eventually accomplished and even held for two terms.

On the most recent episode of her podcast, IMO, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, the 61-year-old made the comment on Wednesday.
Following guest Victoria Monét’s discussion of ambition and her embarrassment at sharing her aspirations to become a singer, Michelle made her remark.

Michelle compared Barack’s aspirations for a presidential campaign to the singer’s revelation and agreed with it.
“It reminds me of my husband,” she joked. ‘ “I want to be president of the United States.” ‘

Michelle remarked, “No, you might want to keep that to yourself, honey.”

During the show, the mother of two also talked about taking chances and her own professional goals.

Michelle, who worked for a prominent Chicago legal firm after graduating from Harvard Law School, talked about her “soul-crushing” first job and why she never returned.

She told Robinson and their guest Victoria Monet, “I went into a big corporate firm when I came out of law school because I went to Harvard and had a lot of debt, and that’s what you did.”

She clarified, “I was there for two years, pretty miserable, not because of the place, but because the work was kind of soul-crushing to me, but I thought I had tried nothing else.”

The former first lady went on, “And I left and started working in city government and public service, and each job, even though it paid less, had me working with people.”
“So, that year grew into two years, and after working for the deputy chief of staff and then planning and development, I was out of the legal profession and never returned.”
