According to Bamiloye, he and his spouse Gloria had to rely on the kindness of friends, family, and the religious community to pull off their special day because they had little to no money in the early going of their marriage.

On Monday, he disclosed this in a Facebook post on his official account.

The well-known theater preacher claims that his marriage story shows the strength of faith and community support, proving that love can endure adversity.

Bamiloye said, “When I got married, I didn’t have any money to take my wife on a honeymoon,” as she thought back on their wedding day. We remained at the recently rented house.

The couple relied on the generosity of their loved ones because they were bearing a heavy financial load of beginning their life together.

His sister-in-law bought him shoes and socks for the event, his best man supplied his suit, and his big sister rented their apartment to make sure they had a home of their own.

The difficulties didn’t stop there. Bamiloye remembered, “Gloria and I went looking for a place to rent a wedding gown, and we found one, but we didn’t have the money.”

They were only able to pay the gown deposit because of the kindness of a sister in their ministry.

The couple maintained their faith in the face of adversity, trusting that community love and support would get them through.

Additionally, Bamiloye recalled their attempt at a court marriage, stating, “We went to the registry to find out about court marriage.” We collected the forms but never brought the money back because they said the charge was only N170, but we couldn’t afford that.

This meant that they didn’t have a formal government certificate when they got married, and that fact persisted until an embassy asked for one six years later.

He thought back, “Every naira we got on our wedding day went to pay off the debts for the wedding programs and other expenses.”
Two days after the wedding, they were struggling to make ends meet. Even so, Bamiloye expresses gratitude: “The following Saturday, Gloria and I stood by the roadside looking for a ‘lift’ to the venue because we had a drama ministry in Ilesa.”

His experience, he said, is a potent reminder that love, faith, and the willingness of others to assist are the cornerstones of a solid marriage.

“I thank God,” the preacher said, honoring his wife. I never married a woman who would impose needless restrictions or pressure on me. Gloria is a blessing from God.
In 2022, Bamiloye celebrated his wife Gloria’s 58th birthday by thanking her for her assistance with his ministry.

The clergyman disclosed that his spouse used to give him her allowance from her time in the National Youth Service Corps so he could plan events.
They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in October 2021, and he praised her for contributing to the success of his ministry.
He emphasized his gratitude for the rejection of his marriage proposals by other sisters.
