The child’s motionless body was brought to the hospital, where a doctor pronounced her dead, and her remains were placed in the mortuary, the man stated.
The spokesperson went on to say that the suspect was found in possession of the knife he used to perform the crime, large amounts of weeds thought to be hemp, and an item thought to be a charm.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect resides in the compound with the child’s parents and others, but he hails from Umuagu-Ozalla in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State,” he continued.
Before entering the victim’s apartment and seeing the defenseless youngster sleeping, he made an effort to harm other neighbors.

The suspect admitted to the crime and stated that he was under the influence of hemp, methamphetamine (known as “Mkpuru-mmiri” in the area), and an alcoholic beverage called Action Bitters when he committed the crime.
According to Ndukwe, the suspect allegedly admitted to being a member of the Vikings Fraternity and to having participated in a cult conflict in 2022 while living in Jos, Plateau, where he killed a male member of the opposing cult.
He mentioned that after the investigations were over, the suspect would be charged and put on trial.
“Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, the state commissioner of police, called the conduct heinous and unimaginable.
“The commissioner extends his condolences to the victim’s parents, siblings, and friends, promising to do everything within his power to ensure that the defenseless youngster receives justice.
As a result, he gave the State Criminal Investigation Department of Enugu’s Deputy Commissioner of Police an order to make sure that ongoing investigations are finished and the case is prosecuted as soon as possible.
“To prevent needless incidents of this kind, the commissioner also urged the citizenry to, as much as possible, be conversant with the behavioral patterns of their neighbors,” he continued.
