Nigerian Amusan will face Danielle Williams, Grace Stark, and Devynne Charlton in the first of three semi-finals. The first two qualify for the final, while the fastest non-automatic qualifiers also join.

Amusan, who qualified for three consecutive Olympic semifinals, attributes his success to his season, stating that he has improved from 18/19 to a more experienced individual.

Nigeria’s medal prospects are heavily reliant on the world record, given her near-misses in several track and wrestling events.

In the lead-up to the sporting event, she has been incredibly consistent, setting a season’s best and a world record of 12.40 seconds (0.9) in the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in Kingston in May.

She had already twice, in January and February, set the African indoor record for the 60-meter hurdles.

She won her third straight African Games championship in Ghana in March. Three months later, she also won gold in the women’s 4x100m relay in Accra and the African Championships in Cameroon.

Amusan has competed in two Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020) and has won the Diamond League three times in a row. She has also won gold twice in the Commonwealth Games, twice in Africa, and three times in the African Games.
