Benfica controlled the first part of the match and put a number of chances past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, but the Cottagers got stronger as a result of absorbing the pressure.

Following a botched Benfica attempt in the twenty-first minute, Adama Traore’s tireless countermove, masterfully executed by Iwobi, saw Fulham take the lead.

Iwobi’s outstanding performance continued until Martial Godo replaced him in the 79th minute.
Calvin Bassey, a fellow countryman who played the entire 90 minutes for the Premier League team, also demonstrated a strong defensive performance.
On Monday night, the London team will meet Sevilla at the same location. Four Nigerian players are expected to play in this match: Iwobi and Bassey for Fulham, and Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho for the La Liga team.

Fans of Fulham and the Super Eagles should be happy to hear that Iwobi, a former player for Arsenal and Everton, is in fantastic form heading into the new campaign based on his impressive performance and goal.
