The Nigerian Correctional Service wishes to inform the public that the Custodial Centers have been designated as red zones in light of the alleged national protest that is scheduled to take place on August 1, 2024. As a result, any individual or group of individuals who have no business whatsoever should avoid the area, according to the statement issued by the CGC and signed on his behalf by Service Spokesman ACC Abubakar Danlami Umar.
In addition, the Service wants to remind the public that both custodial and non-custodial centers are vital national resources that are important to both national security and public safety.
The disruption of law and order brought about by their tampering or attacking will make society’s overall security even more precarious.
“In order to guarantee the security of correctional facilities, the Service strongly recommends all members of the public to collaborate with the Service. Sufficient security measures have been implemented to guarantee that no correctional facility is vandalized. The Ministry of Interior Joint Taskforce (MOIJTF) has been triggered to bolster security within and around detention centers around the country. “Haliru Nababa, FICMC, MFR, mni, the Controller General of Corrections, is grateful for the consistent public participation in maintaining harmony and tranquility in and around correctional facilities across the country. Additionally, the public is urged to report any suspicious movement or plot to info@corrections.gov.ng, our official website, or by giving us a call at 09060004598 or 08075050006.
