In a meeting with traditional rulers led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Sa’ad Abubakar, and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at the State House on Thursday, President Tinubu addressed the plight of citizens as a deep concern and pledged to receive more attention. He stated that interventions to bring the government closer to the people are yielding results, such as the activation of the student loan programme, the consumer credit scheme, and the affirmation of fiscal autonomy for local government councils.
President Tinubu stated that the ministry of finance will continue to ensure that funds go to the grassroots for human and infrastructural development. He also mentioned the need to reactivate the Bank of Agriculture and focus on infrastructure development along the Lagos-Calabar coastal road, which could create wind energy, generate power, and expand irrigation networks. The economic viability of infrastructure needs to be studied before embarking on projects, such as the construction of dams on the corridors of Sokoto- Badagry to energise electricity, do irrigation, and additional farms.
The president also expressed concern for the ordinary people and the damages that will be done to the country, as well as the damage caused by the recent fires in Lagos. He thanked the royal fathers for their efforts in reaching out to citizens and urging them to reach out to the government on its genuine intentions to deliver on its promises of Renewed Hope.

An executive council meeting was held on Monday, and the Council, composed of all state chairmen of the 36 States and the FCT, met to deliberate on the economy. The Ooni of Ife thanked the president for inviting the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and the GCEO of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, to brief the traditional rulers on the state of the economy.
In conclusion, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of addressing the plight of citizens and ensuring that the government continues to prioritize the welfare of the nation.
