The United States government transfers Mr. Woodberry, Hushpuppi, and Bidemi Rufai to the same prison.

According to Peoples Gazette, three notorious Nigerian Internet fraudsters with significant social media and political clout are presently incarcerated at the same US jail; Bidemi Rufai is scheduled to be released on Valentine's Day in 2025.

In Fort Dix, a low-security facility close to Joint Base McGuire in Burlington County, New Jersey, Ray “Hushpuppi” Abbas, 41, Jacob Olalekan Ponle, or Mr. Woodberry, 33, and Mr. Rufai, 46, are being held pending the completion of their respective jail sentences.

Mr. Rufai, an ally of Governor Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), was detained in May 2021 at the airport in John F. Kennedy after he had purchased a Royal Dutch ticket to escape the United States and travel to Nigeria.

After entering a guilty plea, Mr. Rufai was transferred from a facility outside of Seattle, Washington, to Fort Dix in Burlington County in preparation for his release on Valentine’s Day in 2025. The U.S. government also ordered him to pay $604,000 in restitution.

 

Hushpuppi, 41, who is serving his remaining sentence at Fort Dix until August 6, 2029, was transferred from a facility outside of Los Angeles. His prison number is 54313-424.

Mr. Woodberry, his accomplice and fellow prisoner, had also been transferred from the infamous Danbury penal facility in Connecticut to Fort Dix. The 33-year-old Mr. Woodberry, whose prison registration number is 54314-424, is scheduled for release from prison on October 17, 2027.
