Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva received the ceremonial gavel of the president from India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to complete the transfer of power. India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 when Indonesia stepped down, and it will hold the role through November 30.

The group adopted a consensus declaration during the two-day summit, making pledges on a number of topics, including food and energy security, climat change, and the vulnerability of the world’s debt.

On Sunday, Modi also suggested that the group hold a “virtual summit” by the end of November to review the progress of the ideas and initiatives put up by the participants and decide “how their progress can be accelerated”.

Modi stated, “In that session, we can review the topics decided during this summit,” and he further added that members would be informed.
