Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, announced on Monday that he is still awaiting the Federal Government’s approval for his security outfit, “Iru Ekun Security Network.” This initiative aims to combat criminal activities in the South-West forests. In a statement released in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, he emphasized that all required documents for the approval had been submitted to the Federal Government.

The Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, recently enacted Executive Order 001 of 2026 to regulate private security firms. This measure was deemed essential to ensure that various groups engaged in security-related activities operate under a clear legal framework, thus fostering peace and order in response to growing security concerns.

Governor Makinde pointed out that the order aims to address the rising number of security outfits that operate without proper coordination, contributing to increased community insecurity. Sunday Igboho has expressed his readiness to comply with this Executive Order and collaborate with law enforcement agencies, including the Police and the Nigeria Army, to eliminate threats posed by terrorists, kidnappers, and bandits.

He praised President Bola Tinubu for his dedication to improving the security framework both in the South-West and across Nigeria. Igboho emphasized the importance of peace and security for fostering socio-economic development, particularly in rural regions crucial to the nation’s agricultural productivity and food security. By reinforcing these security measures, they seek to support safety and stability across Yorubaland and beyond.
