On Thursday, May 21, Wendy Achumba, a female student at the College of Nursing, Umuadara Umulogho, was discovered murdered in her off-campus lodging in Umulogho, which is located in the Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.
When she did not leave her room or answer repeated calls, the neighbors were concerned.
After multiple failed attempts to reach her, the neighbors eventually pushed their way into her room, where they found her lifeless body with her skull almost severed.
According to a person who spoke to Punch, the room’s door was still securely secured with the key. The victim’s cell phone, however, was missing.
The woman, who was from Ngwa in Abia State, had finished her midwifery education and was completing post-basic training at the college, according to community sources.
DSP Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence and stated that investigations into the killing had begun.
Okoye stated, “The Command is aware of the tragic incident involving the death of a female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, whose body was discovered in her private off-campus apartment.”
“The body was recovered and placed in the morgue after the DPO and operatives quickly visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment following the report, while investigations have begun to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and apprehend those responsible.”
