The singer made the statement during a live performance at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran Nollywood actor, Fatai Odua (Lalude), held on March 30, 2026.

In a video that has now gone viral, Osupa was seen cautioning his backup singers who were struggling to keep up with him on stage. In a surprising twist, he advised them to consider using juju to improve their memory and performance.

Taking things further, the Fuji icon openly declared that he has no reason to deny being involved in such practices.

According to him, someone once advised him to publicly deny using juju, but he refused.

“Why should I deny it? I didn’t use it to harm anyone. I’m only using it to progress in life,” he said.

Osupa added that he regularly pays homage to Ifa, noting that his intention is not evil but simply to live a comfortable life.

In his words:

“If I don’t use juju, what else should I use? Is it Panadol that will make me successful?”

He also made a bold claim that many people secretly engage in such practices, but only a few, like himself, are open about it.

“Everybody does juju. Some hide it, but I do mine openly,” he said.

However, his statement has triggered heavy backlash, especially from Islamic clerics and followers who once held him in high regard.

Some clerics took to TikTok to distance themselves from his claims, insisting that success comes from God, not juju. They also advised him to retrace his steps and be mindful of his influence on fans.

Despite the criticism, Osupa has not backed down. While responding to critics, he maintained that he respects both the Bible and the Quran, but called out what he described as hypocrisy among people.

The singer, however, did not withdraw his earlier statement, leaving the controversy to continue trending online.
