“That you Abbas Olalekan and others at large, between January and March 2026, at Ikereku area, Laderin, Abeokuta, in the Abeokuta Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit abortion and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006,” the charge sheet with the number MA/22/99/2026.”
“That you: Abbas Olalekan and others at large on the same date, time, and location in the aforementioned Magisterial district unlawfully attempted to obtain an abortion by supplying Ariyo Victoria Olapeju “F” drugs, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 230 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006.”
However, the NYSC official entered a not guilty plea to every allegation brought against him when he appeared before the presiding magistrate, A. K. Araba.
Elizabeth Adelabu, the defendant’s attorney, requested bail on the accused’s behalf, claiming that the accusations are subject to bail.
The defendant was given N500,000 in bail with two sureties in the same amount by Araba, who stipulated that one of the sureties had to be a blood related and the other had to work for pay.
The Magistrate ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ibara Correctional Center pending fulfillment of the bail conditions. The case was postponed until April 14 for further hearing. Last week, the Ogun State police command announced that it had begun an investigation into Ariyo’s death, which was allegedly caused by complications from abortion procedures. The sureties were also required to submit a utility bill, a deposition to an affidavit of means, six passport photos, and proof of the 2026 tax payment to the Ogun Government.
Before her untimely demise, Adeleye, who was also serving in the same Abeokuta South LG, was reportedly employed at a television station in the state capital.
It was reported that the two corps members who died were pals.
The first lady, Mary, passed away in her home, which is close to her PPA, according to a source who spoke to our correspondent. Her lifeless body was discovered in the flat, and the cause of her death is still unknown.
However, it was reported that complications from an abortion procedure were the cause of Victoria’s death on Tuesday.
“We also learned that the police have picked up a NYSC official from the state command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, who was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with the late Victoria that resulted in the pregnancy and subsequent abortion.”
While verifying the tragic event, state police command spokeswoman DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi stated, “I can confirm that the case of the demise of Victoria Ariyo is under investigation by the state Criminal Investigation Department.”
When asked about his response, Mr. Emmanuel Igba, the Ogun State NYSC Public Relations Officer, stated that he had been on leave and would not return until April, therefore he was unaware of these instances.
