Italian fashion house Versace has appointed Belgian designer Pieter Mulier as its new chief creative officer, Prada, the brand’s owner announced Thursday. Mulier will start July 1, succeeding Dario Vitale, who stepped down after less than a year.
The move reunites Mulier with Raf Simons, his long-time collaborator at Prada, and comes a year after Prada acquired Versace from Capri Holdings for €1.25 billion ($1.47 billion), seeking to revitalize the brand.
Mulier, 46, has previously worked alongside Simons at Jil Sander, Christian Dior, and Calvin Klein, and served as creative director at Alaïa, where his architectural and sculptural designs earned critical acclaim, including International Designer of the Year at the 2025 CFDA Awards.
“We believe he can unlock Versace’s full potential while honoring the brand’s strong legacy,” said Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group executive and head of Versace. Mulier is expected to present his final Alaïa collection at Paris Fashion Week in March
