The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended a 35-year-old man, Aliyu Yarima, for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl in Babbangida town within the Tarmuwa Local Government Area. As stated by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the arrest followed a distress call received by the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters.

Initial investigations revealed that on January 16, 2026, the suspect allegedly lured the victim with a soft drink that had been mixed with hard drugs, rendering her unconscious. He then reportedly took her to his residence where the sexual assault occurred. The victim suffered serious internal injuries, which subsequently delayed her ability to report the incident. After the assault, she was taken to the General Hospital in Babbangida, where a medical examination validated the occurrence of sexual assault.

Currently, investigations are ongoing, and once completed, the perpetrator will face charges in court. SP Abdulkarim has encouraged the public to promptly report cases of sexual abuse and other criminal activities to the nearest police station, reaffirming the command’s dedication to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
