Nigerian actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli is celebrating another career-defining moment after her latest film, Love in Every Word: The Wedding, hit one million YouTube views in just six hours.

Seventeen hours after its release, that number had already doubled, crossing 2.2 million views and counting, making it one of the fastest-growing Nollywood releases online this year.

The sequel continues the emotional journey of Chioma (Bamike “BamBam” Olawunmi-Adenibuyan) and Odogwu (Uzor Arukwe), picking up from where the first film left off. The original Love in Every Word, which premiered in March 2025, became a digital hit with more than 28 million views, a rare milestone for Nigerian cinema.

Oboli, 47, shared her excitement on Instagram shortly after the release, thanking her fans and calling the milestone a shared victory.

> “1 MILLION VIEWS IN 6 HOURS??? Bestiessss!!! History is being made right in front of us,” she wrote. “Thank you to every single one of you who has watched, shared, commented and celebrated Love in Every Word: The Wedding. We are breaking barriers and rewriting the story of Nollywood together.”

The post quickly went viral, drawing thousands of messages from fans in Nigeria, Ghana, the UK, and the U.S. all celebrating the film’s success and Oboli’s consistency as a filmmaker.

For Oboli, the massive view count represents more than a viral hit. It’s also proof of how streaming platforms like YouTube are transforming Nollywood’s reach and revenue model.

Earlier this year, the first Love in Every Word faced a major setback when YouTube temporarily removed it following a copyright dispute. The incident, which involved a claim from filmmaker Chinonso “Skyberry” Obiora, caused uproar among fans and sparked a larger debate about creative rights in Africa’s fast-growing digital film space.

Now, with the sequel’s lightning-fast success, Oboli appears to have turned that challenge into momentum, leveraging social media buzz, digital marketing, and audience loyalty to reclaim her stride.

Omoni Oboli has long been more than an actress. She writes, directs, and produces her own films, often managing their online promotions herself. Her success with Love in Every Word: The Wedding reinforces her reputation as one of Nollywood’s most strategic and audience-savvy creators.

“It’s not just about making films,” she said in a recent interview. “It’s about creating connection.”

With her latest milestone, Oboli has done exactly that; connecting millions of viewers across borders through a story that celebrates love, resilience, and the growing global power of African cinema.
