Canadian pop star Justin Bieber has once again shown love for Afrobeats this time, while casually vibing to Nigerian singer Fireboy DML’s hit track Playboy during a livestream.
In a now-viral clip shared across X (formerly Twitter) and Twitch, the 31-year-old artist can be seen in a pink hoodie, mouthing the lyrics to Playboy while scrolling on his phone during a relaxed Twitch session. The short video, which Bieber himself posted, also features shots of him sinking hoops at a Los Angeles basketball game earlier in the week.
But it wasn’t the basketball that got fans talking, it was the unmistakable rhythm of Fireboy’s Afrobeats anthem pulsing in the background.
For longtime fans, Bieber’s appreciation for Afrobeats isn’t new.
The Grammy winner has previously teamed up with Nigerian stars Wizkid on the chart-topping remix of Essence and Omah Lay on Attention. Both collaborations helped introduce Afrobeats to a wider global audience and solidified Bieber’s reputation for embracing international sounds before they hit the mainstream.
His latest nod to Fireboy DML reignited conversations online about the genre’s global reach. Fans flooded social media with reactions ranging from excitement to pure pride.
