According to Ivan Zazzaroni, editor of Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri would prioritize acquiring Lookman as their top attacking goal with their €100 million summer budget from owners Oaktree Capital.

Zazzaroni posted on Instagram, “Oaktree has made €100 million available… for transfers.” “Lookman is their top priority.”

After predicting that “Inter will increase their offer to €45 million next week,” the editor went on to say, “Then the ball will be in (Antonio) Percassi’s court and that of Lookman himself,” alluding to the Atalanta CEO.

According to reports, Atalanta is holding out for about €50 million for the 27-year-old winger after rejecting Inter’s original €40 million deal.

Tuttosport reported that Inter “cannot and will not match La Dea’s €50m asking price.” The Nerazzurri had already given Atalanta a deadline and declined to raise their opening offer.

Zazzaroni’s disclosure, however, implies that Inter is now willing to make concessions in order to land their top transfer target before the upcoming campaign.

Even though the clubs are still at odds, Lookman has already reached a personal agreement with Inter on a multi-year contract worth about €4 million net per season and is still focused on moving to San Siro.

In order to concentrate entirely on joining the Nerazzurri, the former RB Leipzig and Leicester City player has rejected interest from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Napoli.

Barcelona’s interest was thwarted by their continued financial limitations, while Napoli, under new coach Antonio Conte, had wanted to utilize Giacomo Raspadori in a swap trade for Lookman. The Nigerian turned down the offer.

As Lookman gets closer to fully recovering from his injury, Inter is willing to raise their proposal, which is a big change from their prior position of not lowering their €40 million asking price.
