The new name of the university will be Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri.

At a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting honoring the late former president, Mr. Tinubu announced the university’s rebranding.

President Tinubu, who presided over the meeting, gave a powerful eulogy, praising Buhari’s life as one characterized by moral strength, discipline, and steadfast patriotism.

At the conclusion of the FEC meeting, the President said, “Before we take the prayers — in honor of his [Buhari’s] memory, with this special session of the Federal Executive Council (expanded) — can we adopt the naming of the University of Maiduguri with a new name — Muhammadu Buhari University, Maiduguri.” The audience applauded.
