According to Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, over 40% of Nigerians currently have access to 20 hours of electricity every day nationwide.
In a statement released in Abuja, Adelabu said that the accomplishment was the result of revolutionary actions carried out by the Ministry of Power with President Bola Tinubu’s backing to rekindle the economy’s potential.
He attributed his administration’s radical and audacious actions to the power sector’s accomplishments, citing President Tinubu’s persistent support for a steady and reliable power supply as a method of achieving a breakthrough in industrialization.
The ministry’s production of over 5,500 megawatts of power, according to Adelabu, was one of its noteworthy accomplishments last year. By the end of the year, the ministry hopes to improve even more.
“Most developed nations achieved reliable, functional, and affordable electricity as a fundamental step.
“This is crucial for industries, businesses, institutions, and households. That’s why we must prioritise this for Nigeria to drive economic growth and industrial development.
“President Bola Tinubu emphasised this in his New Year’s speech on January 1, stressing the need for stable electricity to power critical sectors.
“This is the only way to achieve requisite economic growth and industrial development, as none of these sectors can function without it.”
Adelabu presented the administration’s plan to give companies, businesses, and institutions—such as those in the medical and educational fields—a steady supply of electricity.
He claims that the purpose of this program is to enable these organizations to power their infrastructure, increase their capacity, and provide more employment possibilities.
In order to accomplish its objectives, he said, the ministry collaborates with agencies, 27 power producing firms, and 11 electricity distribution organizations.
He continued by saying that the ministry was dedicated to giving Nigerians a steady and consistent supply of energy, and that it had the backing of President Tinubu in doing so.
