The notification stated that the diversion would take place every day between 12 midnight and 4 am on Saturday, August 17, 2024, and Sunday, August 18, 2024.
The ancient pedestrian bridge in the region had to be safely demolished by workmen, which is why the diversion was implemented.
The state Ministry of Transportation’s X handle revealed this on Thursday.
Additionally, drivers would only have access to one lane “from Ile Zik Bus Stop up to Conoil Filling Station on the Oshodi bound side of the road,” according to the statement.
“Motors on the Dopemu/Abule Egba bound side of the road will not be impacted by the traffic diversion during the demolition, according to state Commissioner for Transportation Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi. He also mentioned that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be present to control vehicular movement and minimize disruptions.”
Osiyemi cautioned drivers to exercise patience, stating that the lanes “will be cordoned off with jersey barriers and protective nets to keep motorists and commuters safe during the period of the demolition.” The closure is a part of the traffic management plans for the safe removal of the old pedestrian bridge by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, she said.
