The gift was given on Monday as the organization was visited.

“Grimard College of Nursing Sciences, Kogi State has continued to play a very critical role in the primary healthcare sector of the nation through its training and nurturing of healthcare professionals who make a difference in society,” Obi said in a statement released on Tuesday through X. The statement emphasized the college’s vital role in Nigeria’s primary healthcare system.

“I have not only remained consistent in urging governments, at all levels, to invest more in health and education, but I have also continued to call on donor agencies to do the same,” stated the former governor of Anambra State in support of his continuous calls for greater funding for these sectors.

“I am particularly concerned about the training of nurses because they are at the center of our primary healthcare delivery,” Obi wrote, highlighting the significance of nursing education.
He emphasized the necessity of taking preventative action and spoke of a possible nursing shortage.

He stated, “As experts continue to warn of an impending severe shortage of nurses, we must remain proactive by investing in their training. By doing so, we can export more to the global community and have enough for our domestic health sector.”

Obi expressed his appreciation to the college administration and faculty for their commitment to educating healthcare professionals. Additionally, he urged the nursing students to stay focused on their coursework.

Obi continued, “Our commitment to creating a New Nigeria that gives Nigerians access to quality healthcare and educational opportunities remains.”
