ISLAMIC MARRIAGE
Freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution, which permits and upholds Islamic weddings and legislation. Islamic law applies to those who follow the religion and recognize it as their code of conduct. It is founded on the principles of Islam. Islamic family law addresses matters including marriage, the responsibilities and rights that follow from it, ending a marriage, and other things. Islamic marriage law is not codified, as customary marriage law is not compiled and contained in a document. Islamic law governs marriage matters through Sharia rules that are drawn from the Quran and Hadith, Nigerian customs, and legal precedents.
