Under a new plan unveiled by the government on Friday to address a persistent lack of physicians and nurses, the National Health Service in England will gain more than 300,000 employees.

A manpower gap of 360,000 is anticipated for the publicly-funded NHS by 2037 as a result of an aging population, a dearth of domestically trained health professionals, and issues maintaining current personnel. The NHS turns 75 on Wednesday.
