The DSS said in a statement issued on Sunday that Godwin has been posing as its representatives and committing fraud while claiming to be the Service.
The statement said, “The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby alerts members of the public of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff member, and his activities.”
He is allegedly involved in dishonest practices, such as defrauding gullible members of the public by using the Service’s name. Therefore, it is recommended that the public avoid doing business with him.
Before making any financial or other commitments, the agency advised the public to be cautious and confirm the identity of anyone posing as a DSS representative.
Additionally, it recommended that all valid requests, grievances, or questions be sent to the Service via its official channels, which include email at dsspr@dss.gov.ng or phone at 09088373515.
Reiterating its dedication to safeguarding the integrity of its operations, the DSS issued a warning that anyone found to be impersonating the agency would be subject to the full force of the law.
The alert, according to the secret police, comes after a similar warning was sent out last week regarding Barry Donald, another dismissed officer who was accused of defrauding the public by posing as a DSS agent.
