The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, following serious allegations made by Prince Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of an alleged non-existent agency, the PFIPC. The NDC’s statement, issued by National Publicity Secretary Osa Director, urges President Tinubu to suspend Gbajabiamila to facilitate a transparent investigation into the allegations.

These allegations include claims that the purported agency received budgetary allocations in the 2026 Appropriation Act and had financial accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, despite the Presidency’s denial of the agency’s existence. The NDC is particularly concerned about the legitimacy of financial transactions, questioning how a fictitious agency could operate accounts and secure governmental approvals for staffing, including 314 positions, if it had not been officially recognized.

Adeyemi has alleged that he paid N600 million to secure his position, with N400 million paid through intermediaries connected to Gbajabiamila, while claiming that the Chief of Staff demanded 48% of a reported take-off grant. These serious concerns also revolve around the mysterious death of an intermediary, Babatunde Tanimola, which has raised questions about security and corruption related to the allegations.

The NDC has demanded the establishment of an independent investigative panel to examine not just the allegations against the Chief of Staff but also the financial transactions connected to the non-existent PFIPC. It insists that anti-corruption agencies, including the EFCC and ICPC, engage in a comprehensive investigation into the matter, including forensic examinations of documents signed by Gbajabiamila.

In concluding statements, the NDC reiterated that Nigerians deserve a transparent investigation, underscoring that any officials found culpable in this ongoing scandal, reflective of a broader pattern of institutionalized corruption, must face legal consequences. The party emphasized that the administration’s handling of these allegations raises profound concerns regarding governance integrity and accountability under President Tinubu.
